What can be better for a chilly Sunday evening than a casual jazz concert? It so happens that my parents were visiting and as my father is a big jazz fan, I decided on impronto visit to one of my favorite jazz clubs in Seoul.

While sipping on our drinks (entrance cover included) we were embraced by sweet sounds of improvised covers of old classics as well as Jaeil Ji’s own compositions. When listening to jazz, I like to do it with my eyes closed. If the music is good enough it will take me on a beautiful but short journey into my imagination (hence people think I’m sleeping during concerts. Which is not true). Must I say, I had a delightful little voyage with this concert.

About the band, taken from Club Evan’s website:

“They all met in 2013 during 1st Sacheon Jazz Workshop. As the pianist, Jimin Park (currently at Berkley’s Collage of Music) is shortly staying in Korea, they are pursuing a band project. With each band member’s individual improvisations, the band is intending to offer modern sound of jazz”.

I hear (from Jaeil Ji himself) that there might be a recording coming out soon so keep your eyes open for these young artists.

Cluba Evans

Sluchajac jazzu, lubie miec zmakniete oczy.

“Poznali sie sie w 2013 podczas Pierwszych Warsztatow Jazzowych w Sacheon. Uwzgledniajac indywidualne improwizacje kazdego czlonka, zespol zamierza zaoferowac nowoczesne brzmienie jazzu”.

Chodza sluchy (od samego leader’a Jaeil Ji), ze wkrotce bedzie wydane nagranie, wiec radze uwaznie sledzic poczynania tych mlodych artystow.
